Sherri Morris ~ Why Moms Matter Award

Sherri Morris

Why Sherri Matters

Anytime a woman is described as, a “soul mate, life partner, mother of my children, best friend and wife”, you know she is a mom who definitely matters. In a perfect world, all husbands and wives would be able to acknowledge, appreciate and flatter their spouses this way, but we know that isn’t always the case.

For Ken Morris, recognizing the amazing in his wife Sherri is easy.  Married for 11 years (after a whirlwind courtship and marriage) the couple have three wonderful children, Cody, Christian and Skyler.

Ken nominated his wife as a ‘Mom Who Matters’ because “she has the kindest soul of anyone I know or will ever know.”  And he recognizes the many sacrifices that accompany being a Mom, “She has given up so much of who she is to stay home and raise our children and be there for me.”

It isn’t only this husband’s recognition of his wife that touches you, but his pride in who she is and how hard she works.

Sherri is doing what so many mothers do -she is putting her family first.  With recently starting her own business, she ‘works’ the hours of a stay-at-home and work-at-home mom: during nap time and after everyone has gone to bed at night.

Calling her ‘Superwoman’ and rattling off her many titles, ‘Mom’, ‘Wife’, ‘Coach’, ‘Business Owner’, ‘Volunteer’, and ‘friend’, Ken says he is tired just thinking about all she does. But it is their partnership as husband and wife that sustains them, “Without each other, we couldn’t do it.  No matter the situation, happy, mad, sad, we do it together and it has gotten us through 11 years of great times and some not so great times.”

Join us on Why Moms Matter on Blog Talk Radio, Friday at 12:30PST/2:30CST to hear more from Ken and Sherri.  You will learn about Sherri’s new business and how she is helping pregnant women to capture the journey to motherhood as well as how this couple continues to believe that Moms, like Sherri, truly matter.

If you know a Mom doing ordinary, extraordinary things, nominate her for the Why Moms Matter Project.  Each week, we profile a new mom online and on the the radio.

After we had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Katja in person, we left this comment on her blog.

Katja!

So many moms are better because of you. They trust your opinion and they trust you. Rebecca and I have been so impressed by the quality of person you are. You are so authentic and caring, truly the “real deal.”

You resemble the spirit of MomFaves, which is the same spirit of my mom who passed in 2004 - that is…you are passionate about sharing what you love with the people you love…and that’s how you care for them and that’s how you make the world better. The perfect recommendation at the perfect time from the perfect person…is priceless. That’s what MomFaves is all about and after getting to know you, it’s obvious that this is just part of who you are. Truly amazing and inspiring.

Thank you for being you and thank you for embracing MomFaves.

Meet Sandie Haskins ~ Why Moms Matter Award

Sandie Haskins Matters.

MyMosaicMemories.com

Why Sandie Matters

You might be the most calm, centered and passive person in the world, but find out your child is being attacked and your Mama Bear instincts kick in.  You stand up tall, put on your SuperMom cape and you MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Just ask Sandie Haskins  - this week’s WhyMomsMatter highlighted mom.

Three years ago next month, Sandie Haskins and her family were given devastating-knock-the-wind-out-of-you-news.  Sandie’s youngest son, Kyler, was diagnosed with brain cancer.  Just 5 years old at the time, the doctors delivered a grim prognosis.  While this cancer typically allows for a 70-80% survival rate, Kyler’s disease was a ‘fast-growing aggressive type’ that might not even respond to treatment.  He was given a 10-40% chance of beating the cancer.

Sandie asked the doctors how many kids they had treated with Kyler’s form of the disease who had survived…

None.

And so began Sandie’s journey to save her child through prayer, nutrition and supplements. (In addition to traditional treatment of chemo and radiation.)

Sandie and her family received emails, notes and verses that helped to guide them through the challenges of this time.

Listen to WhyMomsMatter on Blog Talk Radio, Friday at 12:30Pst/2:30CST to learn how Sandie helped to beat the odds and save her son’s life.

Kyler is now 8 years old, and as of his most recent MRI on March 3rd, he is cancer free. This leaves him to be a child, to be a little brother to 10 year old, Kendrick and to be the son Sandie and her husband simply refused to lose.

It is easy to recognize a little of ourselves in Sandie….even if you haven’t dealt with the type of circumstances she faced. In addition to her Mommy duties - Sandie has her own business - My Mosiac Memories - photo books that allow you to capture the most special moments.  The enjoyment she received from her business rapidly became a passion after Kyler was diagnosed and she recognized how important it would be to have photos of their family.

Moms Matter because they will do anything they can to protect their children.

Meet Cecelia Mecca ~ MomFaves “Challenge Award”

Cecelia Mecca

CoolBabyKid.com

What moms are doing on MomFaves is important…

I fell in love with MomFaves the first time I used the site.  In 2005 I started a cosmetics Company, Ispiri Cosmetics, which put inspirational quotes on the packages.  Mom Faves stands for everything I hope to accomplish with Ispiri, empowering and inspiring woman and reminding them to “Doubt whom you will but never yourself.”  (Christian Nestell Bovee) With their Why Moms Matter initiative, MomFaves recognizes the dual role so many moms have today between careers, child-rearing and other endeavors, and it’s just a lot of fun to see what our counterparts are loving too!

About Cecilia

An English teacher by trade and mom to a toddler girl and baby boy, Cecelia began gathering all of the cool products and resources she found as a new mom and Cool Baby Kid was born.  The Baby Kid Blogs have grown to a small family with Cool Baby Kid focusing on cool picks and tips while Smart Baby Kid utilizes Cecelia’s educational background as a teacher of over ten years and PhD in Curriculum & to blog about educational products and resources. Ask Baby Kid is a combination of short, real answers to parenting and blogging with a panel of other moms to answer questions about both.  In her spare time which comes mainly in the middle of the night when the rest of the house is sleeping, Cecelia enjoys reading, running, traveling, planning parties, and is a closet reality TV fan. She also recently created Blog Popz, a blogger regognition program which allows uses to send virtual lollipops to fellow bloggers.  Her newest endeavor, the Baby Kid Blog Network, helps connect companies and quality product review bloggers.

How Cecilia is helping MomFaves

In the short time we’ve known Cecilia - we’ve observed her helping bring attention to what moms are doing on MomFaves in so many ways. She’s posted, tweeted and retweeted about MomFaves. Most recently though, she was kind enough to mention MomFaves as her new favorite site with the latest release of Blop Popz ~ so cool!

Cecelia, thank you for all your support and we look forward to seeing and sharing more momfaves with you!

~ MomFaves Challenge

Every Thursday on this blog, MomFaves features a new mom who goes above and beyond to bring attention to what moms are doing on MomFaves.com. These are active members and supporters of the MomFaves community who are helping establish a universal brand for moms behind the things they love most, a modern mother’s seal of approval. This is our way of telling these moms “Thank-You.”

THANK YOU to all other moms found helping MomFaves!

Briana Carter Shares What She Loves!

BargainBriana.com

How MomFaves is helping me…

I’m one of those people who if I find something I LOVE, everyone has to hear about it. (Sorry about that!) So having an outlet like MomFaves is a great way for me to share my favorites products, sites, places and more. If I find something I want to share because I know other moms will love it too, I come straight to MomFaves.com to post about it. I also love seeing that other people share my enthusiasm for similar things!

MomFaves also allows me to find information from other moms. In the short time I’ve been a member, I’ve found things through other moms I would have never known about. For example, this past week in my daily email summary, I saw a fave from JessicaKnows about something called Love 146. Of course that peaked my interested and since then I’ve learned about this important mission.

Search engines just don’t do it all. Sometimes you need a personal touch. So on a lighter note,  if I’m looking for a fun craft for my kids to do, I can log onto this site and see what my favorite moms have recommended. Recently, I found printable pages for kids via ExtraordinaryMommy

The more you use momfaves, the more you will get out of it! I encourage everyone to try it out and you will find yourself having a blast favin’ things up! faves.
